The land office in Jhenaidah has been providing services free and fair. “Most of the union level land offices in the upazila were free from any corruption and hassle,” said assistant commissioner (AC-land) of Shailkupa Partha Pratim Seal.
Some people of the upazila said now the office was free from any broker. Further, they are not paying any additional money for any service except the government scheduled rates.
They said mutation of land, better known as namjari was a major critical and lengthy process in the land offices earlier. A section of brokers with the cooperation of a section of dishonest office staff were doing unethical activities that left harassment to the people of rural areas.
But they are not cheated anymore now when the office head had hung the rate chart for each and every service. Further, the people were advised to file complaint for any irregularities by any office or troubles anyway. He is eager to hear any allegation round the clock following land purposes and showing no tolerance following any sort of irregularities.
Partha Pratim Shil said that they had been proving namjari, miss case, record correction, khasland allocation and some other activities in upazila level as well other 14 union level land offices in the upazila.
As per the directives of deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath, he has been monitoring the activities of the union level offices locally known as Tahsil office presenting himself as a sudden visitor and monitor.
His office has been settling the files within 28 working days for a quicker service as per the directives of the authority.
To make aware people of the service charge rate, citizen charters were displayed at all offices so that the common people could know the actual service charge and other costs for any specific service. Further, the educated people could visit the government website for more enquiries.
“The people might enjoy Face book pages too. They have been gaining their confidence once again and rushing the office without any hesitation,” Partha Pratim Seal said.
As an executive magistrate, he was conducting mobile court, eviction of illegal structures or establishments and other drives as directed by the deputy commissioner at any moment. He was playing active role to make aware the innocent people during the global pandemic corona virus and penalized the health guidelines breakers.
The land office head said his office collected Taka 5.5 lakh in the fiscal of 2019-20, while the figure was shown same in last three months. He is expecting three times more of the revenue from the current fiscal than that of the previous fiscal. “The office has been developing the payment against any service charge through online baking as the people should not carry any cash in the office,” Shailkupa AC Land said.
