Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manira Begum urged upon the farmers to utilize the loan money and strengthen their socio-economic state when the government has been allocating low interest loans to boost production and remove their financial constraints. The women abide the women have been playing role in strengthening socio-economic base in the rural villages, said DC Manira Begum.
Organized by Jhenaidah district administration, the deputy Commissioner was addressing a gathering at Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) ground in Jhenaidah town on Monday noon when she was inaugurating the district agriculture loan fair 2023. Earlier a colorful rally started from Jhenaidah Pairachatter paraded the town with slogans where over two hundred farmers including women and bank officials participated.
Local government deputy director yearul Islam, Bangladesh Banak additional director in Khulna Amar Kumar Das, Awami League district committee general secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, additional deputy commissioner (revenue )Razibul Islam Khan, deputy director of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) Asgar Ali, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah Sadar Sadiya Jarin, upazila agriculture officer Jahedul Karim, assistant superintendent of police in Shailkupa circle Amit Kumar Barman and assistant general manager of Janata Bank Manirul Islam among others present as special guests.
Later the deputy commissioner distributed loan money for Taka four crore and five lakh among 263 farmers of six upazilas in the district. Officials and staff of 30 commercial banks remain present there.
