Jhenaidah-1 y MP Abdul Hyee passes away

Abdul Hyee, MP from Jhenaidah-1 constituency and Jhenaidah district Awami League Presi­dent, has passed away.

He breathed his last in the early hours of Saturday (March 16) while undergoing treatment at the Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand, said Shahidul Islam, personal assistant of the deceased.

He is survived by wife, one daughter, two sons, a host of relatives and well-wishers.

 Born on May 1 in 1952 at Mohammadpur village under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah, Abdul Hyee joined politics at an early age while studying at Basantapur Secondary School. He was elected as the VP of the Govt KC College Students’ Union in 1969. In the same year, he was elected the vice-president of the Greater Jashore District Chhatra League.

 He took part in the liberation war in 1971. After independence, he served as the convener of the Jhenaidah Jubo League. 

 In 2001, Abdul Hyee was elected MP from Jhenaidah-1 as a candidate of Awami League. 

He was also elected MP in 2008, 2014 and 2018. He had served as the State Minister of the 

Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Resources. 

People of various classes and professions, including the district Awami League, have expressed deep grief over the death.
