The Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) women’s wing, Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal, observed its 48th founding anniversary in Magura on Friday with a discussion and reception programme.
The programme, organised by the Magura district unit of the Mahila Dal, was held at the district auditorium in the afternoon, with women leaders and activists from the district’s four upazilas attending.
Magura-1 MP and district BNP member secretary Alhaj Monowar Hossain Khan attended the programme as the chief guest. Reserved women’s seat MP and BNP central assistant secretary for relief and rehabilitation Newaz Halima Arly formally inaugurated the event.
Magura district BNP convener and administrator of the district council Ali Ahmed addressed the discussion as the chief speaker.
District Mahila Dal president Umme Kulsum Urmi chaired the programme, moderated by its general secretary Advocate Farhana Parvin Beauty.
Speakers highlighted the Mahila Dal’s history, struggle and achievements and stressed the need to strengthen its organisational capacity and role in future political movements.
Sewing machines and wheelchairs were distributed among beneficiaries at the programme. Goats were also distributed among poor women, while footballs were handed out to underprivileged children.
Magura Municipality president Md Masud Hasan Khan Kizil and organisational secretary Kazi Majharul Islam Utpal, along with leaders and activists of various front organisations and representatives of different social organisations, were present. #EK
