DC Studios co-boss James Gunn debunks speculation about Gal Gadot having been booted from the DC Universe, following the recent shake-up reports.

James Gunn debunks speculation about Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot having been let go from the DC Universe. Despite having been in the development stages for roughly two years, Wonder Woman 3 was recently revealed to no longer be moving forward. Patty Jenkins, who helmed the first two films, had submitted a Wonder Woman 3 treatment to Warner Bros. Pictures, but due to the new DC Studios regime, her pitch didn't fit into their upcoming DCU vision. While there were reports floating around about a supposed fallout between the parties, Jenkins came out with a statement to help clarify the situation.

Even though Wonder Woman 3 may, as of right now, not be happening, there has been confusion about Gadot's future with the DCU. Henry Cavill being out as Superman has suggested that some type of reboot is on its way for the DCU, which began in 2013, but there have been rumors and speculations that because Wonder Woman 3 was shelved, Gadot had been fired from the DCU. A fan recently took to Instagram and stated to Gunn that they "Cannot wait to see what you're cooking up... That being said, the move to boot Cavill and Gadot (especially after they'd announced their return) doesn't inspire confidence." Gunn fired back by denying the theory that Gadot had been fired from the franchise.

Even though Wonder Woman 3, in its latest form, is not happening under DC Studios, that doesn't mean the threequel couldn't be redeveloped later on. The only significant difference is that, as of right now, Jenkins won't be involved in any capacity. What is unclear is if Gunn meant that Gadot never got fired and is still with DC Studios or that she parted ways from them rather than got the boot. Thus far, Gadot hasn't made any statements whatsoever after the news about Wonder Woman 3 broke in the press.
