Jamalpur youths get business support materials

 Business support materials and certificates are distributed among the unemployed youth who have completed technical training through the development association-seeds program with the aim of achieving empowerment through employment creation and eliminating unemployment.  Upazila Chairman Md Solaiman Hossain was present as the chief guest in the distribution ceremony on Monday.   

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamrunnahar Shefa presided over the event and was present among others at the distribution event organized at Dewanganj Upazila Parishad premises.  Dewanganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner Land Mahabub Hasan, Development Association Assistant Director Programs Murshed Iqbal, Seeds Program Manager79 people were given business tools through the SEEDS program to reflect the knowledge gained by the trained people or to start their own trade.  

Among them, 18 carpenters, 1 computer operator, 4 electricians, 2 decorators, 18 masons, 3 salon workers, 3 tile workers and 5 welding workers were given materials. Congratulating the initiative, Upazila Chairman Solaiman Hossain said that this type of activities of the development association will only create employment opportunities for the youth of the area and will contribute to the ongoing development.

Upazila Executive Officer Kamrunnahar Shefa said that such activities of the seeds program undoubtedly deserve praise.  It is a successful initiative to reduce unemployment. According to sources, by the end of 2023, with the aim of improving the level of socio-economic development in 2 thousand 500 marginal families of the working area to a promising level, the SEEDS program is being implemented by the development association with the financial support of Norway-based international donor organization Stromi Foundation in Islampur, Dewanganj and Bakshiganj districts.  Multi-dimensional activities are being implemented in the upazila.

 Quality education, livelihood, youth, self-employment of young women, youth, adolescent girls’ empowerment are working closely with the target population of the work area.
