Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in Chitalmari upazila staged a motorcycle showdown on Thursday in protest of a lockdown called by the banned organization Awami League.
Around 7:30 am, the Jamaat workers took out a procession of over a hundred motorcycles along various important roads in the upazila. The demonstration was led by Maulana Ghazi Muniruzzaman, the Ameer of Chitalmari Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami.
He was accompanied by, among others, the upazila Jamaat's Naib Ameer and freedom fighter Sikdar Abdul Ali, General Secretary Zahiduzzaman Nanna, and other nominated candidates and local leaders.
Meanwhile, Chitalmari Police were on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents related to the lockdown program declared by the banned Awami League.
