The Detective Branch (DB) has arrested the top 15 leaders and activists of Sirajganj district Jamaat Ameer and district Chhatra Shibir president-secretary. At this time 10 cocktails were recovered.
They were arrested on Sunday (April 3) night during a raid on a secret meeting at the Darul Islami Academy in the city's Sayadhangara Madhyapara mahalla.
The arrested leaders are District Jamaat Amir Md Shahinur Alam (50), District Student Shibir President Tariqul Islam (24), Secretary General Alhaj Uddin (24), Office Secretary Azizul Haque (22), Former President Imran Hossain (25) and Shibir leaders. Rezayanullah Sohaib (19), Monirul Islam (25), Alamin Hossain (22), Shariful Islam(24), Ayub Ali (22), Abu Bakar Khan (23), Abdus Salam (22), Monirul Islam Sarkar (20), Zakaria (23) and Rabiul
Islam (21).
Sirajganj Detective Branch (DB) sub-inspector Khokon Saha said Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists from different upazilas of the district were holding secret meetings at Darul Islami Academy for the purpose of sabotage. After receiving the news, 15 people were arrested in the night raid. At the time, 10 cocktail bombs were recovered from the spot and 5 motorcycles were seized.
Accused in the case under the sabotage and explosives law, they were sent to the district jail through the court on Monday.
