Jahangirnagar University (JU) has appointed two new syndicate members for a two-year term. Professor Dr Saleh Ahammad Khan from the Botany Department and Professor Dr Khondaker Mohammod Shariful Huda from the Geography and Environment Department have been nominated by the Chancellor of the university, who is also the President of Bangladesh.
A formal notification confirming these appointments was issued today by ASM Kashem, senior assistant secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education.
The appointment follows the regulations outlined in Sections 22(1) G and 22(3) of the Jahangirnagar University Act of 1973. According to the Act, the Chancellor holds the authority to nominate syndicate members for a two-year term.
Professor Saleh Ahammad Khan is a respected faculty member of the Botany Department, known for his academic contributions and research in plant sciences. Meanwhile, Professor Khondaker Mohammod Shariful Huda has served in the Geography and Environment Department, bringing expertise in environmental studies and geographical research. The syndicate is the highest governing body of Jahangirnagar University, responsible for making important policy decisions regarding academic and administrative matters. The newly appointed members are expected to contribute their knowledge and experience to support the university’s growth and development.
