Jagorony Theatre’s 9-day Silver Jubilee Int’l Theatre Fest

A 9-day Silver Jubilee International Theatre Festival is being organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Jagorony Theatre. State Minister of Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, MP inaugurated the festival at Enam Medical College Auditorium in Savar yesterday. State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman was present as chief guest during the programme. 

Jagorony will honour several theatre personalities on different days of the festivities, including Abul Hayat, Dilara Zaman, Sharmili Ahmed, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Rosey Siddiqui, Azizul Hakim, Zeenat Hakim, Afsana Mimi, Munira Yusuf Memi, Azad Abul Kalam, Abdul Halim Aziz, Lutfor Rahman George, Shams Sumon, Tanvin Sweetie, Abu Naser Beg, Pranab Kumar Ghosh, Niranjan Das, Ronak Hasan, Tapan Hafiz, Dr. Kisan Mostafa, Tapu Khan, Ajmal Amin, Arup Roy, Shahedul Islam Shahid, Sachin Sarkar, Niranjan Sarkar and Md Shafiqul Alam Babul.

The announcement of the Jagorony Best Theatre Worker 2019 in various categories will be announced and awarded. This year, a total of 14 groups, including 9 from Bangladesh and 5 from India, will stage their plays. On the opening day yesterday, Jagorony Theatre staged the dance drama 'Mahua Shundari'. ‘Thikana’ (Loknatya Dol Banani) will be staged today and ‘Ami O Rabindranath’ (Prangone Mor) and ‘Rajar Cchithi’ (Jagorony Theatre) will be staged tomorrow. ‘Geeti Chandrabati’ (Shongskar Natyadal) and ‘Shaath Phanke Badha’ (Theatre Shine- India) will be staged on 27th January. 

‘Ujane Mrittu (Palakar) and ‘Cumulonimbus’ (Hante Khori- India) will be staged on 28th January. ‘Desh Amar Maati Amar’ (Dhaka Moulik Natyadal) and ‘Patar Banshi’ (Barasat Kalpanik- India) will be staged on 29th January. ‘Asharsho Prothom Diboshe’ (Theatre Factory), ‘Nrittyanatya Shapnashondhani’ (Tushti) will be staged on January 30th. ‘Rajbhog’ (Passionate Performers- India) and ‘Shonibar Bhumishuto’ (India) will be staged on 31st January and 1st February respectively. 

An international seminar on theater is being held on January 31st at 5:30 pm. The event will be convened by the theater researcher Dr Ashish Goswami (India). Biplob Bala, Professor Rezaul Karim Siddique, Dr Kamal Uddin Kabir and Debashish Ghosh will also be present as speakers during the seminar.  Jagorony Theatre Advisor Ranjan Kumar Sarkar and general secretary of Jagorony Theatre Smaron Saha are acting as chief coordinators of the festival.
