IUTA gets new body

Professor Dr M Jahangir Hossain of Islamic History and Culture department and Professor Dr Tapan Kumar Gooder of Information and Communication department were elected as president and secretary respectively of Islamic University Teachers’ Association (IUTA) on Sunday.

IUTA chief election commissioner Professor M Mizanur Rahman of Mathematics department announced the result around 11:00pm on Sunday. A total of 351 votes out of 404 votes cast in the election, Professor Mizanur Rahman told the Bangladesh Post.

Professor Dr Paresh Chandra Barman of Information and Communication department as vice-preseident, Professor Dr Shahadat Hossain Azad of English department as joint secretary and Associate Professor Dr Abdullah-Al-Masud was elected as treasurer.

The other elected members of the committee are Professor Dr Kazi Akhter Hossain, Professor Dr Shelina Nasrin, Professor Dr Debashish Sharma, Professor Dr Baki Billah, Professor Dr Mohabbat Hossain, Professor Dr Sazzad Hossain, Associate Professor M M Nasimuzzan, Associate Professor Sazzadur Rahman Titu, Associate Professor Firoz Al Mamun and Assistant Professor Shahidul Islam.

The committee was formed for the next one year, IUTA chief election commissioner said.
