The Islamic University (IU) authorities have taken up an elaborate programme to celebrate the 47th University Day on Saturday with due respect and festivity. Various academic and administrative units of the university, including all departments, institutes, offices, halls, and the Laboratory School and College, will join the celebration.
According to the official schedule, all units of the university will gather at the central playground with designated banners at 10:45 a.m. The day’s events will formally begin at 11 a.m. with the hoisting of the national flag and the university flag at the central playground. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah will hoist the national flag, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Ayequb Ali will hoist the university flag.
Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Acting Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Monjurul Hoque, and Convener of the University Day Celebration Committee Professor Dr. Md. Alinoor Rahman will be present at the ceremony. At 10:30 a.m., national and hall flags will also be hoisted at all residential halls by the respective provosts. After the ceremony, students from all halls will join the main programme with banners.
Following the flag-hoisting, the Vice Chancellor, accompanied by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Acting Registrar, and the celebration committee convener, will release doves and balloons to mark the inauguration of the day's events. Teachers, officials, employees, students, and members of the IU Laboratory School and College will join the ceremony.
A greeting exchange programme will be held after the inauguration. Deans, departmental chairpersons, hall provosts, house tutors, faculty members, officials, employees, and students will participate in the event. A cake-cutting ceremony will also take place as part of the festivities.
Afterwards, a colourful rally will start from the central playground, led by the Vice Chancellor. Participants will include the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Acting Registrar, deans, department heads, hall authorities, teachers, students, employees, and members of the Laboratory School and College. All academic and administrative units will join the rally with their respective banners, while members of the Rover Scout Group will accompany it with musical instruments. The rally will parade the main roads of the campus and end at the memorial foundation stone erected by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
A floral wreath will be placed at the foundation stone area on behalf of the university to honour Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Later, a discussion programme will be held at Bir Sreshtho Hamidur Rahman Auditorium. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah will attend as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Ayequb Ali and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam will attend as special guests. Acting Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Monjurul Hoque will deliver the welcome speech. The session will be chaired by celebration committee convener Professor Dr. Md. Alinoor Rahman.
After Zuhr prayers, a special doa and munajat will be offered at the central mosque seeking the development and prosperity of the university. Later, an Iranian film will be screened at the Hamidur Rahman Auditorium.
The main gate, administrative building, VC’s residence, memorial foundation stone, and Diana Chattar will be illuminated on November 21, 22, and 23. Main roads of the campus will be decorated with alpana designs and colourful flags.
The university authorities have urged teachers, officials, employees, students, and members of the Laboratory School and College to participate in the day’s programmes.
