IU teachers split-into groups centering election

The teachers of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia have been divided into several groups ahead of the executive body election-2020 for the teachers of university.

 A total of 46 candidates to vie against 15 post including president and secretary, confirmed Prof Dr M Sarwar Murshed after finalizing the nomination paper on Wednesday.

The election will be held on December 15 at room 427, at the faculty building on the campus, he added.

The Awami backed teachers alliance announced two panels while BNP-Jamat panel also announce two panels in the election though the election was held previous years in two panels one led by BNP-Jamat and another led by AL backed panel.

Prof Dr Mahbub Arefin of Tourism and Hospitality Management department and Prof Dr Anwarul Haque Swapan of Biotechnology and Genetics  has announced a 15 member panel for election from progressive and left-leaning teacher’s alliance Shapla Forum.

Prof Dr Kazi Akther Hossain of Human Resource department and Prof Dr Mahhubar Rahman of EEE department have also announced 14 members panel form the same wing.

BNP-Jamat panel gave nomination Prof Dr M Tozmmel Hossain of Arabic Language and Literature department and Prof Dr M Mustafizur Rahman as president and secretary respectively form their panel.

Pro-BNP teachers Prof Dr AKM Matinur Rahman and Prof Dr ASM Sarforaz Newaz will compete for president –secretary post as individual candidates.   

The conscious teachers claimed that the teachers made divide among them due to their inter conflict.

Besides, the officers have been divided into several groups among their political arena centering their election while the election for the officer’s executive body will be held on December 17.
