IU students on demo against BCL Secy Rakib

The students of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia formed demonstration against its BCL unit general secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib over disrespecting Supreme Court of Bangladesh on Wednesday.

IU Law faculty students formed the agitation as human chain protesting an audio scam of Rakib went on viral in social media where he despised the verdict of the SC.   

The chain was held in front of administrative building of the university under the banner of Law faculty students around 12:30 am.

Over 200 hundred students from Law, Law and Land Management and Al-Fiqh and Legal Studies department took the chain and demanded exemplary punishment of its GS Rakib. While speaking, the speakers said they would go on tougher movement if the university authorities failed to take action against Rakib soon.

Earlier, the rebel leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League of the university unit brought out a procession on the campus on Tuesday night demanding punishment and permanent suspension of Rakib form the university. More than 3 hundred activists took to the streets procession on the campus over a reported audio conversation between Rakib and a Jubo League leader Sumon, Panti union under Kumarkhali upazila, in Kushtia district where he talked  about the verdict of SC as men can get SC’s  decision only in exchange of taka.

About the audio clip, Rakib said that it was merely a conspiracy against him by a group of people and he doesn’t hear the audio conversation yet.

Mentioned, two audio conversations of Rakib with a union Awami League leader were published in some daily newspapers while they talked about bribery, corruption and the processes how Rakib had been running a racket of graft on the campus, in court and offices, September 10.
