A student of Islamic University (IU) died of snakebite at Sheikhpara village in Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Sunday.
The deceased, Rasel Hossain, 20, son of Amjad Hossain Mollah of the village, was a first-year student of IU’s Development Studies department.
Officer-in-Charge of Shailkupa Police Station Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post.
Locals and family sources said Rasel after having his meal in the night was sleeping in his room. A poisonous cobra bite him at about 2am.
Family called an Ojha, meant for so called treatment of snake bite persons. But Rasel succumbs to his injuries on the mid-day.
