Marking the day, a discussion program, a memorizing ceremony, sports, and cultural events are held on the campus throughout the day. The get-together was held at the Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the university. The event started around 10:00am with the chairs of IU Shapla Forum president Professor Dr Mamunur Rahman.

IU Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman addressed the event as chief guest. University treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, former Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahinoor Rahman, former Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Dr Kamal Uddin, IU BBA faculty dean Professor Saiful Islam, Rabindra Maitree University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shahjahan Ali, former treasurer of Pundra University of Science and Technology Professor Dr ANM Rezaul Karim were present as special guests.

Shapla Forum Secretary Professor Dr Mahbubar Rahman conducted the event.

IU Proctor Professor Dr Shahadat Hossain Azad, student adviser Professor Dr Shelina Nasrin, transport administrator Professor Dr Anowar Hossain, Jatir Pita Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall provost Professor Dr Mabbubul Arfin, IUTA president Professor Dr Jahangir Hossain and Secretary Professor Dr Tapan Kumar Gooder, Professor Dr Abdul Muyeed among others were also present at the event.

At the event, 23 new members were included at the forum, and at present the forum has around 252 members which were founded with only a few members in 1991.

Former Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Harunur Rashid Askari said, 'If there was no Shapla Forum, this university could never have reached its present position. At one time, there was no opportunity for co-education here, the practice of liberation war consciousness was prohibited, and the practice of non-communalism was prohibited. But the university has now moved from a big Madrasa to a modern university. This is the contribution of Shapla Forum, it is because of Shapla Forum that the University took its present form. Now IU will survive on par with the reputed universities of the country and abroad. It is never possible to repay what this Shapla Forum has given us.'

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman said, 'The spirit and philosophy that led to the formation of Shapla Forum should be remembered in every place. We have to stand united against the evil forces against freedom. Let us strengthen Sheikh Hasina's hand in building Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla through unity. We want to prove that we can by presenting a field of progressive practice through the Shapla Forum.’

Later, sports and raffle draws for the teachers and their family members were arranged at the TSCC corridor, a film ‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ was shown, and a ravishing cultural event was performed.
