The Islamic University Press Club (IUPC) got a new executive body with Abu Hurayra of Protidiner Sangbad and Mutasim Billah Pappu of Samakal as president and secretary respectively.
After the election, IU Pro-vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Mahbubur Rahman announced the result as chief guest while acting register H M Ali Hasan, Transport Administrator Prof Dr. Anowar Hossain and Student Advisor Shelina Nasrin of the university were present as the special guests.
The other office bearers of the committee are- Rumi Noman of Jago News and Ahsan Naim of Ekushey Television as vice president, Mahbub Alom Rayhan of Bhorer Kagoj as joint secretary, Munzurul Islam Nahid of Kaler Kantho as office secretary, Adil Sarkar of Shomoyer Alo as treasurer, Rakib Hosen Redwan of Bangladesh Pratidin as publicity, publication and literature secretary, and Azaharul Islam of Janakantha as sports - culture secretary. The election was held at the Press Corner adjacent to the university’s Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium around 10:00am on Monday.A K Azad Lavlu, former president of Press Club conducted the election as chief election Commissioner while Associate Prof Altaf Hossain and Kanon Aziz, former president and secretary of Press Club were the assistant election commissioner respectively.
Sarkar Masum of Jugantor, Tarikul Islam of Bangla News 24, Nur Alam of Ekattor Post, Abir Hossen of CampusLive24 and Nazmul Hussain of Bangla Tribuen were also elected as executive members.
