Associate Professor Dr Anichur Rahman was made the new chairman of Mathematics department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday.
Acting registrar SM Abdul Latif confirmed, vice chance Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam appointed him to the post for the next three years.
Dr Anichur replaced Associate Professor Abul Kawsar of the department, he added.
