The official Facebook page of Islamic University, Bangladesh has been launched under the name Islamic University, Bangladesh. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah, inaugurated the page on Monday from his office.
During the launch, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the absence of an official page often leads to misinformation, as unauthorised individuals may spread misleading content under the university’s name. To counter this, the official page has been launched, and he urged journalists and the university community to recognise it as the university’s authentic page.
He further warned that those operating fake or unauthorised pages in the university’s name will face legal action, in line with practices at other institutions. He advised journalists to report details of fake page admins and users to the university’s ICT Cell.
Professor Dr. Shahjahan Ali, Director of the ICT Cell, said the removal of fake pages can only be ensured through government intervention. He also encouraged everyone, including journalists and university staff, to follow the official page to help expand its reach.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Yakub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, and several other senior officials were present at the launch.
