IU journalists protest expulsion of CoU reporter

The journalists of the Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia staged a demonstration on Sunday protesting the expulsion of a reporter of Bangla Daily Jaijaidin Iqbal Monowar, who is also treasurer of Comilla University (CoU) Journalists’ Association. 

IU Journalists’ Association and Press Club jointly organised the human chain programme to scrap the wrong decision of the CoU administration. 

The human chain was formed on the premises of IU ‘Mrittunzoyee Mujib’ moral on the campus.

Addressing the human chain, IUJA president and IU correspondent of the Daily New Nation Sahedul Islam said, “CoU administration took a bad decision to expel the journalist. CoU VC’s speech was clearly in favor of corruption. So he expelled the journalist without any show cause, this decision proved that he is a corrupt person. We strongly condemn and protest this decision and call the VCs to withdraw the expulsion and apologize for this injustice in front of the nation.’

The former president Dr Amtaj Hossain of IU Teacher Associations was also present at the human chain and expressed his demand to immediately withdraw the expulsion of journalists.

IUJA joint secretary Emanul Shohan, office secretary Tajmul Jaeem, publicity secretary Riyad and treasurer RM Rifat were present.

  Executive member Imran Mahmud, IU Press Club president Abu Huraira, office secretary Munjurul Islam Nahid, cultural secretary Azaharul Islam and publicity secretary Redwan Rakib and others were also present at the human chain.
