IU celebrates 43rd founding anniversary

The authorities of Islamic University (IU)  celebrated its 44th University Day on the occasion of 43rd founding anniversary on Tuesday amid festivity.

Marking the day, IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Mahbubur Rahman of the universities hoisted the national and university flags respectively in front of the administration building of the university around 10:00am.

IU VC and Pro-VC paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreath at the ‘Mrittunjoyee Mujib Mural' near the university main entrance of the university.

Later, the vice-chancellor inaugurated the events by releasing pigeons and balloons in the sky around 10:30am.

After that, teachers, students, officials and staffs brought out a joyous procession led by the VC.

The procession ended at the Bangla Mancha adjacent to the university’s Arts' Building after parading the main roads of the campus.

A discussion programme, a cake-cutting ceremony and a cultural event was held there where IU VC was present as the chief guest while Pro-VC and treasurer Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya attended as the special guests with IU Day celebration committee convener Professor Dr Anowar Hossen in the chair.

IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan delivered welcome speech while IU Political Science department chairperson Assistant Professor Sherina Bithi conducted the program.

Among others, IU Student advisor Professor Dr Shelina Nasrin, Proctor Professor Dr M Jahangir Hossen, deans, teachers and provosts of different faculties and halls were also present on the occasion.

Everyone should have to played his/her own roles to boost the up the quality of each section of the university, IU VC said it while addressing the programme.
