IU BCL burns Mahbub’s effigies

The rebel leaders and activists of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) burnt effigies of former proctor Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of the university for his alleged involvement with recruitment scam.

The wing burnt the effigies of the professor in front of the university administrative building around 3:00pm claiming Dr Mahbub as Shibir activists.

 Earlier, they brought protest procession from their party’s tent demanding absolution him from all the administrative posts of the university.

The procession ended in a rally after parading main roads of the university while over 300 leaders and activists of the unit present the rally.

Faisal Siddique Arafat, Mizanur Rahman Lalon, Toukir Mahfuz Masud, Shishir Islam Babu led the procession and among others Bipul Hossain Khan, Shahjalal Shohag Iqbal Hossain, Mossarraf Hossain Neel attended the procession.

Campus Sources said, a group of IU BCL leaders and activists postulated in several times that Prof Dr Mahbubar Rahman of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department as he involved with Shibir activities during his student life.

On Monday, a private TV channel published a report in this regard while Asaduzzaman, former secretary of Madar Box hall of Rajshahi University BCL unit confirmed Dr Mahbub was a member of Shibir’s Pathok Forum of the time.

Besides, Mizanur Rahman Lalon, IU former Students affairs secretary made a comment about Dr Mahbub in a TV report that Mahbub has an involvement with Shibir while Dr Mahbub filed a 100 crores taka defamation case against Lalon.

On contacting, Dr Mahbub said, he repeats his speech that if one raised complain against him is proved, he will leave the campus.
