IU admission test begins

The admission tests of the first year honours courses under 2019-120 academic session of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia began on Monday.

On the first day, the admission test of ‘A’ and ‘C’ units under Theology and Islamic Studies and Business Administration faculties were held while entry test of ‘B unit’ under Humanities and Social Science faculty will be held today (Tuesday) and the ‘D’ unit admission test under Applied Science and Technology faculty will be held on Wednesday.

Held at the faculty building and Rabindra Nazrul Arts building on the campus, the entry test of ‘A’ unit took place from 9:30am to 10:30am.  A total of 1,881 admission seekers out of 2223 took part in the test for three subjects against 240 seats. 

Besides, the ‘C’ unit admission test was held in two shifts. The first shift was held from 11.30 to 12:30pm and the last shift took place from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at different examination centres on the campus. A total of 8,930 students appeared in the ‘C’ unit entry test.

Prof Dr Zakaria Rahman, coordinator of the ‘C’ unit admission test, said they will publish the results as early as possible. The applicants could view their results visiting the university website- www.iu.ac.bd.

IU vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, proctor Prof Paresh Chandra Barman visited the examination centers.

Today’s ‘B’ unit admission test will be held in four shifts. More than 61,942 students will participate in the admission test against 34 departments under eight faculties while 27 aspirants will compete for each seat.

Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, in-charge proctor and student advisor of the university, said that the authorities have taken adequate measures to ensure the admission tests amid peaceful atmosphere.
