The beloved Bangladeshi magazine show Ityadi is set to return to television screens with a special rebroadcast of a classic episode filmed 16 years ago. Bangladesh Television (BTV) will air this memorable episode tomorrow, immediately after the 8 pm Bangla news.
The episode was originally filmed in August 2009 in front of the historic Ahsan Manzil, a former Nawab palace located along the Buriganga River in Old Dhaka’s Kumartuli area. Now a renowned national museum, Ahsan Manzil serves as a majestic backdrop reflecting Bangladesh’s rich heritage.
Written, directed, and hosted by Hanif Sanket, the episode captures the spirit of Ityadi through a blend of music, cultural storytelling, and social commentary. One highlight is a rain-themed song performed by Samina Chowdhury, with lyrics by Mohammad Rafiquzzaman and music composed by Ali Akbar Rupu. The song was originally shot in Tangail during the monsoon season.
The episode also features inspiring stories such as that of Banu Akhter, a physically challenged woman from Dimla, Nilphamari, whose resilience shines through despite hardships. Another segment highlights Md Zakir Hossain from Natore’s Lakshanbaria village and his innovative “Mango Letter” project. Additionally, viewers will learn about Abdus Samad Mondol, a passionate collector dedicated to preserving Bangladesh’s antiquities.
A documentary on India’s iconic Taj Mahal, sent directly from Agra, is included as well.
True to Ityadi’s tradition, the episode incorporates satirical dramas addressing social issues and contemporary realities. Fans can also enjoy popular recurring segments like Nani-Nati, Mama-Bhagne, Audience Interactions, and Letters.
This special rebroadcast celebrates Ityadi’s enduring legacy of blending entertainment with meaningful cultural and social reflections.
