An Israeli strike on the Indonesian Hospital near northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp -- the territory’s largest -- killed 12 people, including patients, and wounded dozens more.

Besides, more than 80 people had been killed in twin strikes there, including on a UN school sheltering displaced people on the same day. The bloodiest-ever Gaza war started with the shock October 7 left 1,300 people including thousands of children dead.

We express deep sorrow over the death of common people and children in Palestine due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. Global leaders should work in unison for peace and the welfare of mankind by shunning the path of war and confrontation.  Bangladesh is respectful towards sovereignty and regional integrity according to the objectives and principles of the United Nations. Bangladesh also emerged from war, war does not bring any good for any side, the country believes in the principle of peace.  We believe that living under the Israeli occupation and forced settlements in the Palestinian territory would not bring peace in the region. When the world has been going through a global crisis and economic recession caused by Russia-Ukraine war and Covid-19 pandemic, the latest conflict between Israel and Gaza will be deepening crisis further.

Global leaders should work

in unison for peace and the

welfare of mankind by

shunning the path of war

According to a study, over 800 million people go to bed hungry globally, which are getting worsened due to the Russia-Ukraine war. So, the conflict between Israel and Gaza starts adding salts into the wounds.  We strongly denounce the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and deplore the resultant loss of innocent civilian lives and injuries to victims. All should keep in mind that escalation of conflicts and violence benefit no party.

Bangladesh supports a two-state solution, Palestine and Israel, living side by side as independent states free of occupation following the UN Resolution Nos. 242 and 338, which can bring lasting peace and stability in the region. Both Israeli and Palestinians must exercise maximum restraint and stop the war immediately to avoid further loss of innocent lives on both sides.

Our appeal today is to the world leaders to shun the path of war and confrontation, and to work collectively for enduring peace, welfare for humankind and economic prosperity for the people of our planet and future generations.
