Ishwardi Upazila Administration to prevent the spread of Covid-19, has started awareness programme among people from Thursday morning. Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Imrul Kayes on Thursday morning conducted the awareness programme at bus stands, markets and major entry points in the upazila.
UNO Imrul Kayes at the awareness programme distributed masks among pedestrians and passengers in the area. He there fined several people for not using masks while roaming outside. At the time, Ishwardi OC (Investigation) Hadiul Islam was present there.
It is to be mentioned that the infection rate of Covid-19 is increasing rapidly in border adjacent districts including Pabna. A total of 3635 people have benn tasted Covid-19 positive in the district. Among the infection rate, Ishwardi upazila holds high percentage of Covid-19 infection, informs Pabna Civil Surgeon.
Correspondent after investigation found out that infection rate in Ishwardi has increased significantly due to the unrestricted movement of people who came in the area for RNPP project related works. Ishwardi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr F A Asma Khan said that the infection rate has increased in last two weeks. Most of the infected people are officers and employees of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, she informed.
UNO Imrul Kayes upon asking said that he has spread awareness among people in major points of the upazila about the infection rate of adjacent upazilas. Authorities have advised people not to go outside without emergency. They were also advised to maintain hygiene regulations.
“We are monitoring the situation and assessing the plans regarding that,” UNO said during the programme.
