We believe the ruling Awami League’s ‘zero tolerance policy' against corruption' will establish good governance and root out irregularities, corruption and mismanagement in all sectors. But it is disheartening to note that a section of corrupt officials and employees is trying to tarnish the image of the government.

Reportedly, some newly-built houses gifted to the homeless families in observance of the Mujib Year under the Ashrayan Project collapsed in Munshiganj and in Bogura districts recently due to flaws in construction works, making Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina aggrieved. After investigations, tough actions will be taken against those who  will be found involved in irregularities.

Five government officials have already been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in this connection. Several high level teams of Prime Minister's Office on Friday visited the houses which are being built for landless and homeless people across the country under the Ashrayan project.

The government must not let its achievements

go in vain just because of some corrupt

government officials and employees

We think no government in the world increased salaries and other allowances of their staffs to such an extent what the Awami League government has done alongside providing them with better residential facilities. Therefore, the government will never tolerate  irregularities and corrupt activities of its  officials and employees. The government must not let its achievements go in vain just because of some corrupt government officials and employees.

We must keep it in mind that the country’s development must not be hindered because of graft.  It is noted that the seeds of corruption, irregularities and mismanagement were planted by the governments that came to power illegally after August 1975.

The military dictators indulged themselves in corruption and created opportunities for others to be corrupt. But, we think those days are gone by as the country is now being ruled by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, who always takes action immediately thinking little about who the person is or how big post that person holds in the government and party. Therefore, we, the countrymen, must work unitedly to resist all evil-sprouts in order to make our country a graft free nation.
