Speakers at a view exchange meeting in Rajshahi have said that sexual harassment now turns into a social disorder. Many children are now using two or more SIM-cards and mobile phone sets in which they are being harassed in different ways.  “We must keep the children far from the mobile and internet, if we want to save them from sexual harassment,” they said. The view exchange meeting titled ‘Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse on Online’ was held on Monday.

Association for Community Development (ACD) under the project named ‘To Resist Sexual Abuse Through Misusing the Internet and the Tourism’, organised the event at the conference room of ACD. The ACD director (Finance) Ponkoj Karmakar addressed the function while the organisation’s executive director Shalima Sharower presided over it.

Programme officer of the organisation Abdul Lotif delivered welcome speech and moderated the programme. Later, the ACD prorgamme manager Ali Hossain screened a power point presentation where the project’s purpose, activities of ACD, the present situation of children in Bangladesh, children and women oppression types, relaxation of existing law in the country were seen.

The speakers urged the guardians to be aware adequately about children and gave a suggestion to observe the children’s regular activities on online. Children will remain secure from sexual harassment if the guardians monitor them properly, said the speakers. Besides, for preventing sexual abuse on online, the country’s law enforcing agencies like police, RAB and others government and non-government organisations can arrange seminars to raise awareness against children sexual abuse.
