International Day for Disaster Reduction observed in Nabinagar

The International Day for Disaster Reduction 2020 was observed in Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria District on Tuesday with the theme of “Good governance will ensure sustainable development for reducing disaster risk”.

UNO Ekramul Siddique presided over the programme while Project Implementation Officer Abu Bakkar Siddique conducted it and Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Zakir Hossain Sadek was present as the chief guest.

At that time, Education Officer Mokarram Hossain, Fisheries Officer Masudur Rahman, Chairman of Nabinagar West Union Parishad Feroz Miah, Social Welfare Officer Md Parvez Ahmed, Former 

Deputy Commander FF Shamsul Alam Sarker along with other 

officials and journalists from print and electronic media were also present.

Everyone watched the Prime Minister's program on the TV screen in the Upazila Parishad conference room. 

Then the discussion meeting started in the conference room and decided to plant 5000 palm trees at the different roads in Nabinagar Upazila for mitigating disaster. 

At the end of the programme, two symbolic keys for disaster resistant houses were handed over among the guests. 

Later, two palm trees were planted inside the Upazila Parishad.
