To commemorate the second anniversary of Bangladesh's historic July Revolution in the spirit of international solidarity and democratic values, Patriots of Bangladesh and Bangladeshi-American Patriots organized a press conference in New York.
The press conference was held on July 8 in Jackson Heights and was moderated by A.K. Abdul Kader on behalf of the two organizations. During the briefing, the organizers announced that an International Remembrance, Tribute and Unity Event, dedicated to the sacred memory of Martyr Osman Bin Hadi under the theme "We May Give Our Lives, But We Will Never Surrender July", will be held on August 8 at Diversity Plaza, Jackson Heights, New York. A central celebration committee was also formed to oversee the observance of the second anniversary of the July Revolution in New York.
The day-long program will run from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will feature the recitation of the Holy Quran and special prayers, tributes to Martyr Osman Bin Hadi and the martyrs of the July Revolution, patriotic and resistance songs, Islamic nasheeds, and cultural performances.
The program will also include an art, photography and historical exhibition titled "From Tragedy to Triumph: The July Revolution," documentary screenings, open cultural performances, mass songs, poetry recitations, patriotic poems, and performances inspired by the July Revolution. The lead vocalist of the rock band Biplob will also perform at the event.
An international think tank session will be another major attraction of the event. Experts in political science, peace and security, chemistry and the humanities, mathematics and data analytics, technology, history, and social psychology will discuss the theme "From Resistance to Reconstruction." The program will also feature remarks by distinguished guests and honor freedom fighters of the July Revolution, families of the martyrs, injured activists, human rights defenders, community journalists, media professionals, and volunteers.
The organizers also announced the formation of a 13-member Central Celebration Committee, headed by distinguished academic Dr. Sheikh Mizan, to ensure the successful organization of the event. Other members include Dr. Abid Bahar, Dr. Junun Chowdhury, Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Rahmat Ullah, Haji Anwar Hossain Liton, Emdad Chowdhury Dipu, Misbah Uddin Ahmad, A.K. Abdul Kader, Abul Kalam Azad, Rezaul Karim, Nurul Haque Chowdhury, Javed Ahmad, Abdul Alim and Dipon Gazi.
Speakers at the press conference described the July Revolution as a glorious chapter in Bangladesh's national history that opened a new era in the struggle for freedom, democracy, human rights, and the people's rights. Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and the contributions of those who were injured, they said the second anniversary would serve not only as a memorial but also as an international platform to introduce the history of the movement, democratic values, and humanitarian ideals to future generations. Through this international initiative, the organizers aim to highlight the history, sacrifices, and democratic aspirations of the July Revolution before human rights advocates, researchers, policymakers, media representatives, academics, and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora around the world.
