Speakers at a function have said that it is an aspect of optimism that the interest in greening is increasing among the people of the country day by day.
Speaking on the occasion, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof Dr Atiur Rahman said, “Now there is no shortage of funds. The main challenge is to create an environment of trust and connect the public to the initiative of greening. The concept of greening and its related activities have to spread among the youths of the country. The involvement of educational institutions is also needed in this regard.”
GreenTech Foundation arranged the function in collaboration with the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry, Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank and Climate Parliament Bangladesh to launch the ‘Green Inclusive Business Idea Based Reality Show’. The launching ceremony of the environmentally friendly ‘Reality Show’ was held through virtual platform on Sunday (September 5).
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, joined the event as the chief guest with chairman of GreenTech Foundation and Grameen Bank Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid in the chair. Former BB Governor Prof Dr Atiur Rahman, former Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Dr Muhammad Abdul Mazid and General Manager of Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank Khandaker Morshed Millat also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Executive Director of the GreenTech Foundation Lutfur Rahman moderated the event, while Prof Shah Md. Ahsan Habib of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) presented the keynote address.
Prof Shah Ahsan Habib in his speech said that a total of ten projects will be shortlisted and necessary funding will be provided to the projects through the Reality Show. At the same time, necessary support will be provided to the new entrepreneurs in the registration of intellectual property rights. Anyone can submit their plans to this event between September 5 to October 30, 2021. Besides, entrepreneurs will also be provided grooming to technical assistance.
Speaking at the event as the chief guest, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, said, “We are celebrating the golden jubilee of the independence alongside the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At the time, this is a unique initiative. The next 50 years will be the milestone in social, economic and political spheres with a view to building a prosperous and green Bangladesh. GreenTech Foundation has been playing a vital role in this regard.”
In his presidential speech, Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid said that a green revolution has been created in the country. He called upon everyone to join the event.
