Intercity train stops for expectant mother

Considering humanitarian ground, non-stop intercity Kurigram Express train was given a stoppage at Natore railway station at dead night to send an expected-mother to the hospital to give birth of a child. 

The newly born child was named as Israf. Both the child and his mother Kamrunnahar are learnt to remain well at Natore Sadar Hospital. 

Ashoke Chakravarty, Station Master of Natore railway station informed, a female passenger of intercity Kurigram Express train from Dhaka developed labour pain on Sunday night while the train was approaching to Natore railway station. 

There having no stoppage of the train at Natore station, the authorities of 999 emergency service department ordered the Station 

Master of Natore and the Guard of the train to stop the train at the station on the humanitarian ground. The female with the labour pain was then sent to Natore Sadar Hospital with an ambulance where she gave birth to a male child. 

Tobarak Ullah, Additional DIG of National Emergency Services informed, at 12-30 am on Monday ( Sunday night) the attendant of Kurigram Express train Mohammad Ali (31) made a call to number 999 and informed, a female passenger of the train was badly suffering from the labour pain and there having no doctor or nurse on the train, there was no one to assist the expected mother for delivery. 

He further said, the train will soon pass the Natore station and it would take more than two-hour of travel to reach to next stoppage of the train at Santahar station. But, the condition of the patient seems serious and needs to admit her to the hospital immediately. 

Considering the situation of the patient with the labour pain, emergency services authorities talked to the higher authorities of the railway and decided to give a stoppage of the train at Natore station. 

Accordingly, an ambulance from Natore Sadar Hospital was also sent to the Natore station and when at 1-45 am, the train stopped at Natore station, the female passenger with labour pain was carried to Natore sadar Hospital immediately where she gave birth to a male child. 

Nasir Mollah, husband of Kamrunnahar informed, they started for Naogaon through Kurigram Express at 8-45 pm on Sunday from Kamlapur station. 

On board of the train, her wife developed labour pain and her condition deteriorated when the guard of the train in consultation with national emergency service-999 decided to stop the train at Natore station. 

At Natore sadar hospital, she gave birth a male child at 2-30 am on Monday. Nasir thanked the the railway authorities and the 999 service provider for helping her wife and the new-born child during the moment of crisis.
