Intercity train service from Brahmanbaria demanded

A human chain was formed in front of Brahmanbaria Press Club on Saturday demanding immediate introduction of intercity train service between Brahmanbari district town and the capital city.

Zila Nagorik Forum (District Citizen Forum) arranged the human chain programme in the morning. Alongside introduction of Brahmanbaria-Dhaka intercity train service, members of the forum also demanded a stopover  of Bijoy and Kalni Express train in the district.

President of the forum  journalist Pijush Kanti Acharya presided over the programme, while Chairman of Brahmanbarida Sadar Upazila Parishad Ferozur Rahman Olio, convener of the Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Abdur Nur,  Organising Secretary of district Awami League Shah Alam Sarkar,  General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Press Club Deepak Chowdhury, headmaster of Niaz Muhammad High School Saheedul Islam, Comrade Nazrul Islam, member of Worker's editorial committee, organising secretary of the Bangladesh Abrity Somonnoy Parishad Monir Hossain, general secretary of Zila Nagorik Forum Ratan Kanti Dutta, general secretary of Brahmanbaria unit of Khelagar Nihar Ranjan Sarker also joined the human chain, among others.

Speakers at the human chain said every day thousands of passengers visit by trains from Brahmanbaia to different districts. They drew the Prime Minister's attention for launching a non-stop intercity train 'Brahmanbaria Express' on Dhaka-Chattogram railway.

Besides, they demanded to increase the seats of other inter-city trains, including the Bijoy Express and Kalni Express.

After the human chain, members of the Zila Nagorik Forum submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister through Deputy Commissioner of Brahmanbaria.
