A workshop on International Collaboration to Address the Climate Crisis was held in Dhaka on Sunday (December 22). Participants from 11 countries joined the workshop to discuss how to work across borders to reduce the climate crisis.
The participants came from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, USA and Vietnam. They came from Stamford University, Asian University for Women, and Council for Minorities.
In the workshop, the participants discussed what childhood games are common across the countries and how current children will look back on their childhood, with little outdoor space to play.
They also shared the problems they face in their countries from the climate crisis, including flooding, heat, and refugee crises. Participants agreed that cars are a big part of the climate crisis and of other urban problems across the world, including congestion, car crashes, pollution, and wasted space and money.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Institute of Wellbeing, Carfree Cities Alliance Bangladesh, Bangladesh Youth Climate Network, and Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust. Gaous Pearee Mukti of WBB Trust and Debra Efroymson of Institute of Wellbeing chaired the workshop in two sessions.
