Int’l Winter Art Festival begins at BSA

Three day-long International Winter Art Festival 2019 kicks off at Gallery 3 of Chittrashala Bhaban in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday.

The exhibition programme is organised by Alluring Artwork group, non-profit organisation dedicated to enrich and showcase Bangladeshi artwork culture to the world via one web platform.

The exhibit aims at introducing the aesthetic calligraphy practices and different forms of artworks, including paintings, installations, photo-based artworks, drawings and mixed media works on paper.

Historical and modern art legacies, war and warriors, cultural and mythological landscapes depict legacies of our region, myths, and beliefs. And also highlights the issues of and paths, the dreams of minority groups through art.

Renowned artist Hamiduzzaman Khan inaugurated the programme as chief guest. Meanwhile, calligrapher Mahbub Morshid was present as a special guest, as well as Mahfuzur Rahman, vice president, Sikder Group was present there as honorable guest.

Over 150 artists assembled to showcase more than 300 artworks from six different countries. The programme has been organised with art exhibition a workshop for children and prize giving ceremony.

Mahfuzur Rahman, vice president, Sikder Group said, “We are happy to be a part of this wonderful event. It’s a unique exhibition where an artist can connect with creation through the Alluring Art group. I will suggest artists remain connected with the group.”

BRAC University Architecture Department Chairman, Zainab Faruqi Ali at the inauguration said, art is an expression of human beings’ common instinct. The education process gets fulfilment through art.

Alluring Artwork’s founding president Shorower Hossain Shakil said, “From this exhibition, we will spend 20% of the money to unprivileged children. Through www.alluringartwork.com artists now can connect to their artwork directly to people and sell it. At the same time, we will spend the revenue of artworks to economically unwell artists also.” Rakib Hasan a visitor at the exhibition said, “Islamic calligraphy displayed here is amazing.”

An Islamic calligraphy artist Faysal Ahmed said, “It’s an immense pleasure that my artwork is getting appreciation. I want to spread my calligraphy to the world and represent Bangladesh’s global platform, Alluring Artwork group helping us in that way.”

The program was inaugurated on 28th December 2019 (Saturday) and will last till 30th December 2019 (Monday). The exhibition will remain open for all from morning 10 am to 8 pm.

Shamim Ahmed, Deputy Register of BRACU, Kauser Hossain Murshid, Founder of Focus Bangla, Abdullah Al Mamun, BRACU Arts and Photography Society, Nusart Jahan Ema, Advisiorof BRACU Film Club were there.
