Int’l seminar on Tagore held at IU

An international seminar on ‘Tagore and his legacy in the Arab World’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday. 

IU Arabic Language and Literature department organized the seminar at 'Gagan Harkara' Gallery of the Rabindra-Nazrul academic building on the campus around 10:00 am.

Professor Abdul Mottalib, chairman of the department presided over the program. IU Vice Chancellor Prof Shaikh Abdus Salam spoke here as the chief guest while treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya attended the program as a special guest. Professor Tozammel Hossain, convener of the Seminar Executing Committee delivered the welcome speech.

Professor A.K.M Shamsul Haque Siddiqi and Professor Rafiqul Islam, jointly, conducted the program while Professor M Ishrat Ali Molla, former chairman of the Arabic and Persian Department of Calcutta University, India addressed the seminar as a chief discussant.

Professor Kamrul Hasan, Professor Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Professor Obayeddul Islam, Professor Habibur Rahman, Professor Moshtaq Ali, Professor Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Wali Ullah and more than one hundred teachers and students of the department took part the part the seminar.
