Int’l seminar on reforms of legal education held at IU

A day-long international seminar on ‘Challenges and Reforms of Legal Education in 21st Century’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday.

IU Law and Land Management department organised the seminar at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman auditorium on the campus.

IU vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the event as the chief guest with Prof Dr M Selim Toha, chairman of the department also treasurer of the university, in the chair. Pro vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, IU law faculty dean Prof Dr Reba Mandal and Dr Hasibur Alam Prodhan, a professor Law department of Rajshahi University attended as special guests.

Dr Jayanta Kumar Saha, a professor of Law department and dean of Arts faculty of Bunkura University, West Bengal, India delivered the keynote speech on the function conducted by lecturer of IU Law and Land Management Shahida Akhter Asha.

IU proctor in charge Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman, transport administrator Prof Dr Rezwanul Islam, Islamic Studies faculty dean Prof Dr AFM Akbar Hossain, law department chairman Prof Dr Nurun Nahar and among others present here.

Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said that the challenges of legal education are being faced problems within the country whereas law is the most basic elements in the society and the most important facilitator of social justice.

If you see the human history, there were jungle laws before the law is created. Because human society during that time when people hunting they obeys some jungle laws, he added.
