‘Innovation in technology must to embrace 4IR’

The State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian said that in order to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the successful implementation of Vision-2041, more emphasis should be laid on the innovation of new technologies. Workers in all sectors need to be proficient in new technologies, so that no worker becomes unemployed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

State Minister made this remark while speaking at the day-long virtual workshop on the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Innovation Showcasing organized by the Ministry's Innovation Team.

State Minister Begum Monnujan Sufian said that the creativity of information technology in Global Village is a valuable asset for us. A nation advanced in information technology will lead the world of tomorrow. From this realization, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina showed the nation the dream of a new Bangladesh by outlining Digital Bangladesh and Vision-2021 in the election manifesto of Bangladesh Awami League in 2008. The main point of the outline was that information technology would be the main tool of all activities.

State Minister said that the Ministry of Labor and Employment has converted most of the services into digital services in the way shown by Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Information and Communication Technology. All the activities of the ministry have been automated and many important files are being disposed of through e-filing. Factory licensing activities are being carried out online from the Department of Factory and Establishment Inspection. Inspecting mills and establishments through an app called LIMA. A toll free hotline 16357 has been established for the benefit of workers. Writ Management System, Inventory and Requisition Management System, Online Trade Union Registration System has been introduced to Labor Ministry. Thus, citizens have to  face less hassles to receive the services from government. 

State Minister during her speech said that Labor Ministry hopes to take an important role to implementing the Vision-2041. 

Secretary to Labor Ministry KM Abdus Salam, Additional Secretary Dr Rezaul Haque, Sakiun Nahar Befum, Jebunnessa Karim, Dr Selina Akhter, The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) Director General Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed and other officials were present at the discussion.
