Influx of tourists to Cox’s Bazar during holidays

Cox's Bazar beach has seen a large number of tourists during this holiday. Special measures have been taken to ensure the safety of tourists. Tourists have complained of being charged for food and extra hotel fare. The administration is talking about taking special measures to stop tourist harassment. A hotel was also fined for overcharging.

During the Durga Puja of Sanatan religion followers, Eid e-Milad-un Nabi and weekly holidays, the country is under the grip of five consecutive holidays. Tourists flocked to the tourist town of Cox's Bazar to enjoy this holiday. On Saturday, tourists from different parts of the country were seen spending time happily at Labani and Sugandha points of the beach. Saila, Akhi, Rafsan, tourists from Mir Hazir Bagh, Dhaka, said that they had come together with their friends to enjoy the holiday. However, these tourists complained that the hotel they stayed in charged extra.

Sujauddin, a tourist from Khulna, at Sugandha Point on the beach, said, food prices skyrocketed during holiday time, which spoils the mood of the tourists.

Salam Farooq, a tourist from Muradnagar in Comilla, said it was good to visit Cox's Bazar beach. Sad to see the sandbags provided to prevent sea erosion at Labani Point. The natural beauty can no longer be found.

According to the tourism cell of Cox's Bazar district administration, a hotel named Hotel Abhisar has been fined Tk 30,000 due to collecting extra rent from tourists.

Many tourists went down to bathe on the beach on Saturday, and the lifeguard workers are working to rescue these tourists.

Sea Safe lifeguard worker, Md Shukur, said that 60 tourists were rescued from two points of the beach from Saturday morning to evening. However, they did not have to be sent to the hospital due to their quick rescue, said a lifeguard worker.

Abul Kashem Shikder, president of Cox's Bazar Hotel Guest House Owners Association, said that every hotel has been told not to charge extra rent. Even then, we will take action on behalf of the association against the hotels against which complaints are received.

Police Superintendent of Tourist Police Cox's Bazar Region Zillur Rahman said, we have taken special measures for the safety of tourists coming to Cox's Bazar. Our mobile teams are working since morning.

Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar Mamunur Rashid said that the various issues of tourists who have come to Cox's Bazar on vacation are being looked into by the district administration. Three mobile teams of the district administration are working round-the-clock in the tourist areas. A hotel has already been fined for overcharging.
