An initiative has been taken to modernize the Industrial Police (IP) for secure and peaceful industrial zones across the country.

A proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) from Police Headquarters (PHQ) to form 23 new zones and subzones of the Industrial Police to address the security of workers in all economic zones, industries and export processing zones (EPZs).

The process of land acquisition has started to set up a training ground and headquarters in its own area.

Industrial Police started its journey in 2010 as a specialized unit to ensure a peaceful industry-friendly environment in economic hubs. Even after 10 years of its formation, the special unit of police is suffering a housing crisis with some industrial units not having their own establishments. Members of this unit are living inhuman lives inside rented or abandoned mills and factories coupled with vehicle crisis.

The journey began with the aim of controlling the anarchy in the country's industrial sector and providing round-the-clock security.

The industrial police unit collects advance information on the causes of worker dissatisfaction in various industries, incidents of harassment of workers by the employers, vested interest, as well as overall safety.

Regarding this, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Industrial Police, MahbuburRahman said, "The officers of this unit are also living in inhuman conditions. The main priority now is to solve the housing problem of the force, already 5 places have been allotted. Where training grounds are to be built. Another piece of land has also been allotted in Purbachal. There will be  industrial police headquarters, the process of acquiring that land in this connection is underway”

MahbuburRahman further said that it should be seen as an investment for the state. Because, if the security and fair environment of the industrial area is maintained, it would be beneficial for the country’s economy.

One of our goals is to maintain a working environment in the industrial areas by keeping the employer-worker relationship integrated.
