The ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup will be held in Bangladesh in September- October 2024.

India women’s cricket team will play a bilateral series against hosts Bangladesh in April to better evaluate conditions ahead of the next T-20 World Cup, informed Chairman of Women wing committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel.

The series will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, which will host the majority of the Women’s mega event’s matches.

Shafiul Alam Nadel said to media at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday, “India will play the series before the Women’s World Cup 2024. The series exact schedule is yet to be fixed till now. But they visit to Bangladesh to play the series that has already been finalized.”

Meanwhile, defending champions Australian Women cricket team now are in Bangladesh for playing three One Day International (ODI) matches and three-match T-20 series. The Kangaroos won the first limited over match at Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on March 21. Australian Women cricket team won by 118 runs against their hosts counterparts.

The T-20 series would be a very good practice for the both teams. It would also very helpful for Bangladesh to play in the shorter version series before the mega show.

Indian women cricket team toured to Bangladesh in 2014 and 2023. They won by 3-0 in T-20 series in 2014.  The women in Blue during their visited to Bangladesh in Jun-July 2023 played three-match T20 series and won against Bangladesh by 2-1.
