Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey on Tuesday attended the President Parade of the 84th BMA long course of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) at the BMA parade ground in Chattogram.
According to the ISPR press release, he attended the program as the chief guest. He also inspected the parade and took salute.
The President Parade was organized on the occasion of receiving the commission of the 84th BMA long course of the BMA.
General Manoj Pandey distributed awards among meritorious cadets.
A total of 148 officer cadets, including 146 Bangladeshis, among them 123 men and 23 women and two foreigners, one from South Sudan and one from Tanzania received their commissions after three years of rigorous military training. Foreign junior officers will join the army of their respective countries after returning home.
For excellence in all subjects, Battalion Senior Under Officer Sheikh Sabbir Ahmed was adjudged the best smart officer cadet of the 84th BMA long course. He was awarded the 'Sword of Honour' . Company Sergeant Major Mohammad Tanveer Rahman Tapu was awarded the 'Army Chief Gold Medal' for excellence in military subjects.
Officer Cadet Emerton John Kombo of Tanzania won the Bangladesh-India Harmony Trophy as the best foreign officer cadet.
Later, the officer cadets who completed the training, took an oath to dedicate themselves to the service of the country. The chief guest, selected guests, parents and selected guardians of the officer cadets wore the rank badges of the newly commissioned officers.
At the beginning of the ceremony, when the chief guest arrived at the BMA parade ground, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, Commandant of BMA, GOC of 24 Infantry Division, Area Commander of Chattogram Area of Bangladesh Army welcomed him. Senior military, civil officers, parents and guardians of newly commissioned officers were present on the occasion . They also witnessed the colorful parade.
