Indian Air Chief meets three Service Chiefs in Dhaka

Indian Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari on Tuesday paid a curtesy call on the Chiefs of three Services, Principal Staff Officer of the  Armed Forces Division  and other senior officials to discuss matters of mutual cooperation.

Marshal VR Chaudhari arrived in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday  on a three-day visit at the invitation of Air Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, the Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force. 

According to the ISPR press release, Indian Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari met Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed at the Army Headquarters in the Dhaka Cantonment. 

During the meeting, apart from mutual exchange of favors, the two top brass military officials of the two countries discussed the existing outstanding  relations between the two countries. They also discussed  various issues of cooperation for future progress.

General Shafiuddin thanked Marshal VR Chaudhari for the meeting. 

This visit is expected to play an important role in the development of mutual relations between Bangladesh and India, the ISPR handout reads.

Marshal VR Chaudhari also meet Chief of Naval Staff Admiral  M Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters in the capital Dhaka.

Marshal VR Chaudhari called on his counterpart Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan Air Headquarters. 

During call on, they exchanged greetings and discussed about different issues. On his arrival at Air Headquarters, Chief of Air Staff of Indian Air Force was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out BAF Contingent. He inspected the guard and took salute. 

The Indian Air Chief also paid a curtesy call on Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lt General Mizanur Rahman Shameem at the AFD in the Dhaka Cantonment. 

The Indian Air Force Chief, who is accompanying a three-member delegation, is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, reads a press release.

During the tour in Bangladesh, he is also expected to visit major BAF air bases.

He paid tribute to the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifices during the Liberation War of 1971 by laying a wreath at the altar of Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment. 

He also signed visitor’s book.

The visit of the Indian Air Force Chief will further strengthen the close and friendly ties existing between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
