Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Saturday ordered the Civil Surgeon of Chattogram to increase the monitoring of diagnostic centers in Chattogram.
The minister made the order as he found several anomalies while visiting a diagnostic center in Chattogram. He went to Metro Diagnostic Center at Golpahar intersection in the city on a sudden visit in the afternoon.
During his sudden visit, the minister found several anomalies at the diagnostic center. The health minister visited the endoscopy and colonoscopy department and found that they do not have the capacity to make such a diagnosis. The oxygen cylinder was empty. Besides, there was no adequate air tube. Proper bed was not there for endoscopy. Even the emergency medicine for anesthesia was not there. There was no on-duty doctor.
After seeing these, the minister ordered to stop endoscopy and colonoscopy service at Metro Diagnostic Center. Moreover, he ordered Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ilias Choudhury to increase monitoring of the diagnostic centers of Chattogram.
Director of Directorate General of Health Services (Hospital) Dr Abu Hossain M Moinul Ahsan was ordered for further investigation of such anomalies. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Director of DGHS (Hospital) Dr Abu Hossain M Moinul Ahsan, Chattogram Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ilias Choudhury and other officials were present.
