Several hundred teachers and employees of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) formed a human chain on the campus on Monday protesting the vandalism of the sculpture of Bapngabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia.

The BSMRSTU teachers and employees called the government to take stern action against the people involved in vandalising the sculpture and against the people who were instigating such acts.

Speaking at the human chain, Dr AQM Mahbub, vice chancellor of BSMRSTU, said, “At present, Bangladesh is moving forward under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

But a specific group who defeated in '71 and killed Bangabandhu in '75, could not accept this and for this reason they opposing the sculpture of Bangabandhu.”

He also suggested the government to include the history of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War in the madrasa curriculum so that the students of the madrasa could also know about Bangabandhu and the liberation war.
