Imranur Rahman, the fastest man of the country is the dream boy of Bangladesh athletes when the England born athlete earned the feat to move into the semifinal in the World Indoor Athletics Championship, one of the world’s top athletics meet wearing the Bangladeshi jersey.

Imranur Rahman, who participated in the World Indoor Championship (60 meters sprint) was held in Belgrade in March, moved into the semifinal in the meet, now he will run in the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in Eugene, Oregon, United States from July 15–24, 2022.

Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF), who discovered Imran last year and gave him opportunity to prove with taking part in the national championship, he did successfully with becoming the fastest man of Bangladesh with new record, breaking Mahubur Rahman’s 10:54 sec, with finishing on 10:50.

General secretary of the BAF, Abdur Rokib Montu, when talking to the Bangladesh Post on Monday said that they are dreaming with Imran that he would earn honor for the country with competing in the international meets.

Montu, when told about their main target is the next SA Games, said that Imran would bring back the pride for Bangladesh becoming the fastest man in the South Asian region, once Bangladesh earned the feat at late-eighties and early nineties.

“Imran will take part in the World Athletics Championships 2022 to be held in Oregon State of America, from July 15–24. I believe he will do good result there. Imran in fact proved his mettle in the World Indoor Championship held in Belgrade making room in the semifinal, though unfortunately could not run in the semifinal because of he was disturbed by a false start of an athlete next to him,” Montu explained about the skills of Imran.

“Athletes from 223 countries from across the world will compete in the World Athletics Championships. All the top athletes of the world combat in this competition, it would be tough for Imran to move into the semifinal, he did in the World Indoor. I will be happy and it will be a big achievement if he could qualify in the second round of the World Athletics Championships.”

“But our main target with Imran is the Islamic Solidarity Games and SA Games, he will take part in the Commonwealth Games after the World Championship. I believe Imran has every possibility to move into the semifinal of the Commonwealth Games and he will do the expected result in the Islamic and SA Games,” said Montu.

Imran will go USA on July 12 from London and will back on 17th after taking part in the competition on July 16, Montu informed.

“There is no plan about his visit to Bangladesh as he will continue his practice in London, where he has better practice facilities. But by this time if we organize the National Summer meet, before the SA Games, he will come to participate,” Montu replied to a query.
