Import -Export trade thru Benapole halts for 4 days

Import-Export trade between the two countries has become suspended for 4 consecutive days from Sunday through Benapole port.

Although Import- Export suspended  in India on the occasion of Durga Puja, passenger movement between the two countries is normal.

Port sources said, however, goods delivery loading and unloading is normal at Benapole Port.  Since morning, 70 trucks of goods have been delivered from the port.

On the occasion of Durga Puja, 7,000 passengers have traveled to India since Sunday morning till writing this report.

As a result, there are hundreds of trucks loaded with goods waiting to enter Benapole port on the Indian side.Most of the products include raw materials of various industrial factories and garment industries.

On the other hand, Karthik Chakraborty, general secretary of the C&F Agents Staff Welfare Association of Petrapol Port in India said, All import -Export trade through Petrapol port will be closed from October 2 to 5 during the Durga Puja holiday. All types of import-export business will resume from the morning of October 6.

India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries Director Motiar Rahman said,

On the occasion of Durga Puja, we have been informed by the C&F agent rom the Indian side that import and export will be closed through Benapole port for 4 consecutive days.

Import-Export will be closed for four days during the puja holidays, but loading-unloading and customs work continue at the port.

Benapole Immigration Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said that due to Puja holidays, the movement of passport passengers has increased . Seven thousand passengers traveled  to India  On the occasion of Durga Puja. 

Benapole Customs House Joint Commissioner A: Rashid Mia said, On the occasion of Durga Puja, import and export trade between the two countries is closed for 4 consecutive days from Sunday.However, the delivered the goods continued at Benapole port .
