Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral Zulfiqar Aziz has said that it is imperative for the Chattogram city to implement the proposed two ring roads to reduce traffic congestion outside the port. 

He said this at a view exchange meeting with journalists at the conference room of the Bandar Bhaban in the port city on Saturday. Jafar Alam, Member (Administration) Jafar Alam, Member (Harber and Marine), Director (Security), Secretary Omar Faruque, Deputy Secretary Azizul Mowla were present,at the meeting, among others.  

Zulfiqar Aziz said, due to rain in the city for 10-12 days, water logging was created on various roads outside the port. The road between Chattogram and the port was severely damaged. Due to the large holes in the road, traffic is hampered. This was not created due to Chittagong port, he added. 

The port chairman said, 7,000 trucks, cover vans and trailers enter the port every day. Due to the absence of a truck terminal, around 4,000 vehicles from different places of the gate and main roads are available for entry into the port from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

According to the ISPS code conditions, the database is being developed to ensure these cars, drivers and assistant identities. Already, 12 thousand 3 driver-assistant databases are registered. Already 12,300 drivers-assistant databases are registered.

29,769 people have been given digital passes. The assistant is discouraged to enter the port after the age 13-15, according to the labor law. Apart from this, the database of 17 private offdock trailer 24 hours of movement has been completed, he said. 

According to him, Agrabad Access Road-Barapul-Ananda Bazar-EPZ Road and the GEC-Sagroka-Embankment Road will be implemented quickly which will reduce traffic congestion.
