‘Imams can curb militancy through preaching Islam’

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Crime Investigation Department (CID) of police Shaikh Nazmul Alam, BPM, PPM said that the Imams could play the most vital role in preventing militancy, extremism and terrorism through preaching the real sprit of Islam.

He called upon the Imam community to aware common people about the false propaganda of some vested quarters against Islam in a bid to achieve their devil design through creating anarchy, chaos and communalism.

Shaikh Nazmul Alam was addressing at the inaugural function of three rooms of the under-construction four-storied ‘Shanti Bhaban’ at Bachat-Bailtala-Mokdampara Hafezia Madrasa and Orphanage at Saturia upazila in Manikganj on Saturday.

Seven rooms of the under-construction four-storied ‘Shanti Bhaban’ has dedicated after the named of seven heroes ‘Birshreshth’', who sacrificed their lives in the Bangladesh War of Liberation in 1971.

The rooms were names after Shaheed Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman, Shaheed Birshreshth Lance Nyek Nur Mohammed and Shaheed Birshreshtha Squadron Leader Engineer Ruhul Amin.

Shaikh Nazmul Alam formally inaugurated the rooms by cutting ribbon as the chief guest, while commanding officer in Manikganj of RAB-4 Ang Pru, officer-in-charge (OC) Ashraful Alom and Chairman of Saturia UP Anower Hossain Pintu were present at the function as special guests.

Alhaj Abdur Rashid Bsc, President of Bachot-Boiltola-Mokdumpara Hafezia Madrasha and Orphanage, presided over the inauguration ceremony. Joint Secretary of Saturia upazila Awami league Alhaj Golam Hossain, organising secretary of Saturia Union Awami League Belal Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman Rumi, Anower Hossain, students and teachers of Bachat-Bailtala-Mokdampara Hafezia Madrasa and Orphanage, local people, civil society members, professionals and elite persons of the area were present at the function.

After inauguration of the rooms, Peer-e-Kamel Alhaj Hafez Mowlana Joynal Abedin conducted a special prayer for the welfare of the people of the world.  

Shaikh Nazmul Alam said, it is a great initiative to dedicate named after the seven heroes 'Birshreshtha', has created a unique example and it will inspire next generation to know real history of liberation war in the society.

It is mentionable that it is the first in the history of the madrasa or Islamic education system in Bangladesh that the newly constructed rooms of any madrasa were named after the martyrs of the freedom fighters.
