The district administration has cleared the illegal structures built around the outer stadium adjacent to Kazi Dewri of Chattogram city.
District Administration Revenue Deputy Collector (RDC) and Executive Magistrate Nu-Among Mong Marma led the eviction operation from 10 am to noon on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman announced the eviction of all illegal structures after visiting the outer stadium on March 2.
Executive Magistrate Nu-Among Marma Mong said, the evacuation program was carried out with the support of public representatives and sports lovers from all levels of Chattogram. Illegal structures have been razed to free the occupants.
According to the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, the illegal structures built around the outer stadium for a long time have been removed and demolished.
Through this, it has been possible to reclaim the illegally occupied Outer Stadium area. Later they were given two times to move their installations on their own responsibility. The last time was given till March 16. But they did not move in that time. Therefore, today's evacuation operation was conducted.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner said, no more fairs will be held at the Outer Stadium. From now on regular games will be played at the outer stadium.
The fair will be held at Jungle Salimpur. Places for fairs will be allocated where government sites have been recovered.
